The article is devoted to the analysis of necessity, possibilities and timeliness of revision of theoretical resources of conflict analysis in modern sociological theory. The formation of conflict theory, its main postulates as well as problems and prospects of its further development are considered. Taking into account the overall logic of modern sociological theorization, transformation of theoretical and methodological basics of conflict analysis are viewed in broader reflective context. Article reviews theoretical and methodological variety of approaches to conflict, compares principal accents of classical and modern, i.e. post-newclassical conceptions and underlines promising developments of current sociological thought. Therefore, the article argues a thesis of transformation of conflict paradigm in modern sociology, determined mostly by social-historical and general methodological factors, which are viewed as correspondingly external and internal contexts of the transformation.
