Traditionally, the word stereotype is defined as a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. Various kinds of stereotypes we often encounter in everyday life. Stereotypes involve generalizations about male and female identities and about appropriate roles and aspirations for women and men. Stereotypes may vary depending on the historical, international, as well as the political situation in a given country.
