The paper discusses some aspects of teaching the course of Business English in the framework of necessary changes to foreign language teaching practices in higher education. The concept of Business English teaching is viewed within the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) approach. The specific features of the course are described with regard to both developing academic skills and shaping professional business communication competencies of the future specialists.
