Abstract

The antioxidant properties of dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), diethylsulphoxide (DESO) and dipropylsulphoxide (DPSO) in methanol, CCl4 and acetonitrile with the use of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical have been investigated by spectrophotometric method. It has been shown that the antioxidant properties of dialkylsulphoxides depend on the polarity of the solvent, which is more expressed in the case of DPSO.
