The paper examines comparison as an integral part of fictional-imaginative structure of a fairy tale. Comparisons in Spanish fairy tales are endowed with vivid imagery, deep emotions and expressiveness, and have a great cognitive and aesthetic value. They have a huge role as a text-structuring tool acting not only as a stylistic device but also as an important component of the plot. The use of comparisons together with other stylistic devices in the fairy tales is varied and harmonious.
