The present paper attempts (based on foreign research experience) to determine the position and significance of developing the intercultural competence in the field of linguistic education, to specify its goals, tasks and perspectives for modern society, in accordance with globalization, expanding the use of foreign languages and the increase of mobility of specialists and students.
